Hudayriat Island 60 Hz barge power

Two 1,250 kVA generators configured for 60 Hz on a barge for NMDC Energy. The barge links the construction site on Hudayriat Island, Abu Dhabi, to the mainland: construction traffic crosses it, and it swings open to let vessels pass.

Conceptual: two 1,250 kVA modules set to 60 Hz supplying the barge's LV system. Not a project drawing.

Why 60 Hz inside a 50 Hz country

The connected barge equipment required a 60 Hz supply, so the temporary generation system was configured to match the equipment frequency even though the UAE utility system is based on 50 Hz. Because every SINTAQA module can be set to 50 Hz or 60 Hz before it leaves the yard, the barge was supplied from the standard fleet. More on 60 Hz generator rental.

Marine installation

The generators sit on a moving marine structure used by construction traffic and opened for passing vessels, so the containerised design matters: each module is a self-contained, enclosed 20 ft unit with its own controller, breaker and day tank.

Outcome

The generators are in service on the project. Performance details are not published.
